In honor of Mother’s Day, we’re taking a moment to remember a special mother, and the movement she inspired in our company. Her name is Doreen Koenig, late wife to our founder Keith Koenig, and mother to our president Andrew Koenig.
And really, Doreen was City Furniture’s mom. A giving spirit who was known for her philanthropy, Doreen gave to everyone around her. She truly lived our family spirit, and when we lost her to breast cancer in 2015, it sparked a passion in all of our associates.
We’ve gone on to make the American Cancer Society one of our biggest partners, including a month-long campaign every October to raise awareness and funds. Last year alone we raised over $47,000.
It’s all to pay honor to Doreen, and continue her legacy, as well as to protect everyone who has been affected by breast cancer. Learn more about City’s 5% Giving Pledge here.
