Operations associate Jeremy Massey knows this importance of giving back to the community, a quality he wanted to pass along to his daughter, Haley. And so on May 3, the pair joined thousands of volunteers at the One Million Meals event at Nova Southeastern University.
The event was sponsored by a partnership between the Miami Dolphins and AARP, and the goal was to pack one million meals to be delivered to homeless individuals over the age of 50, in support of Feeding South Florida.
Working in shifts alongside Miami Dolphins players, the volunteers took on specific roles at each station in assembly-style food packing. The meals consisted of vitamins, fortified rice, and bean dinners that were measured, bagged, and then boxed.
Amazingly, the goal of one million meals was reached, and that was thanks to volunteers like Jeremy Massey and his daughter Haley. A fun and memorable time was had by all, and everyone walked away feeling like they made a difference.
