Responsible Wood Sourcing Policy

CITY Furniture strives to make a positive social and environmental impact by creating high quality products with longevity and sustainability. We are committed to the responsible sourcing of the wood used in our products. We have a rigorous process in place to ensure legal and ethical purchasing of wood-based products to contribute to a better planet. This policy applies to all wood used in products sold by CITY Furniture.

 

We are committed to only procuring wood obtained from known, legal and responsibly managed forests, and/or recycled and rediscovered wood. CITY Furniture applies a risk-based framework to evaluate sources for wood and wood products and has utilized publicly available data to create a Responsible Procurement Standard for Wood. We work with our external partners to responsibly source all wood by setting specific targets, with the overarching goal of consistently increasing the proportion of wood meeting high levels of environmental performance, such as FSC certified and recycled/rediscovered wood.

 

We are also firmly committed to avoid wood-based products from irresponsible sources, including:

• Unknown sources
• Sources engaged in illegal harvesting or trading
• Sources violating human rights and/or engaged in the conflict-timber trade
• Forests where high conservation values are threatened
• Forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use
